Previous reviews mentioned that the tool got damaged. It has a design flaw. Similar tools have addressed this issue. I use the metal tool for the front suspension seals. I bought it to replace the piston ring of the rear suspension. I tried installing the ring without this tool, and it got damaged. Set the depth indicated on the metal tube as required, then pull out any excess oil to meet factory oil height specification. The markings on the tube were most helpful to do that. Having only used it on one pair of fork legs, I can't really address its long term durability but it seems like it would continue to work for several more sessions.edit; My feelings are a bit mixed about this tool. It is very simple to use, reasonably priced, and nice to have. But when using it, the plunger mechanism got stuck several times and was shockingly hard to free up.
